Those of you who know me know I love to PLAN. Just the other day my friend asked what color she was going to be coded as we made plans to see Venetian sailboats at the lakefront. My planner is full of client appointments, editorial deadlines, fitness goals, concerts, hikes, and church times. Every type of event has a color, every month a motivational quote, and every year a theme. This is not easy to plan but with a Passion Planner I have been able to do it and feel like I’m actually accomplishing dreams and plans.
Promoting Passion Planner (believe it or not) is not the goal here. I preface this to give a background of how much I ADORE the product. The real story is the CEO of Passion Planner – Angelia Trinidad. It is amazing that she is 26, Filipina, a woman, and turned her planner into a business. Over the years I have enjoyed seeing more people jump onboard. Today she gave a social media press release. In it Angelia announced she was coming out as gay in “perfect millennial fashion”.
Following previous trends, this seems to be the moment the protests begin. The moment people say, “She’s gay don’t buy her product.” Time to follow the trends of going after businesses because of a person’s sexual status. Wrong! I plan on planning with my Passion Planners still.
Why? Because I love the product and people. Do I believe it is okay to be gay? No, if you are a Christian, it is not. The Bible makes this very clear in several Scriptures (see Rom. 1:26-27, 1 Tim. 1:10, Mark 10:6-9 , 1 Cor. 6:9 ). However, I do not think being gay is a reason to not buy someone’s product.
One of my favorite women, Mother Teresa, said:
I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.
I believe this should be a life motto – go out of your way to stand for what you believe rather than always protesting what you don’t. I have no desire to be in an “anti-Passion Planner” or “anti-Angelia” parade or campaign.
My desire is to love people, not condone what they do, but love. Jesus taught the Imago Dei . Everyone was made in the image of GOD. Angelia is loved by GOD. She should be loved by Christ – followers as well. If she is a Christian, she should be lovingly corrected. If she is not, the rules of Christ do not apply to her life at this time.
My plan is to continue purchasing Passion Planners. Angelia, like everyone else in the USA, deserves to live in the land of the free and thrive. Maybe I disagree with her lifestyle choice but I believe she has the right to live life and will pray for her. I believe God loves her and wants good things for her. I want to show her Christ’s example of love-praying for her. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). If I chose to not buy things based on one person’s choices I may never buy anything. Sometimes we get so caught up in following God’s rules that we forget to love. Other times we get so caught up loving others and forget to speak the truth in love. This is NOT an acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle but a declaration of loving someone where they are at now.
“For God so LOVED the world that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
